Self-improvement
I think improving ourselves is something that most of us want. Volumes of books have been written on the subject. I searched "self-improvement books" on Amazon.com and it returned over 46,000 options. Whew! Clearly, we are all trying to fix something about ourselves. I am no exception. I have a few things in my life that I'm trying to 'take up a notch'.
My weight... (okay, I'm actually trying to take that down a few notches.)
My home... (trying to give it a little style boost)
My photography... (ALWAYS trying to make that better)
My clothes....
If you ask my mom, she'll tell you that there was a time in my life where I wouldn't leave the house without looking perfect. Between adding years and children and yes.... adding pounds as well, that changed. I didn't like how my body looked so shopping for clothes became a chore, a means to cover the body instead of showing the body's assets.
So as I'm working out and feeling better about my body, I'm finding my interest in fashion is returning. I am reacquainting myself with my inner fashionista. Now, I haven't gone out and bought a bunch of clothes.... at least not yet. But I have found a website that allows me to virtually put together an outfit without spending a dime. It's www.polyvore.com. On this site, you can search through hundreds of photos of clothing and piece together an outfit for yourself then.... if you're so inclined, you can go buy the clothes you just put together. I LOVE it!!!
Now I haven't gone shopping for the outfits I purchased just yet but it's great fun for this visually inclined gal to put something together and see how it looks. I imagine it won't be too long before I am brave enough to actually buy some of the items. But for now, I'm happy to play with the site and remind myself that there's life beyond a t-shirt. Or... maybe a t-shirt & jeans work if you dress it up a little.
Here's a little outfit I put together with watching my kids' soccer games in mind. Honestly. I LOVE it and am seriously considering buying a few of the items. If you click on the image, it will take you to Polyvore and there are links to each item if you want to check them out.
So... go check out Polyvore and have some fun with it!
