After years on blogger, I learned that maybe it isn't the best format for my little blog.  So....  I got another domain name, uploaded a new blog and am slowly making the switch.  Please visit me at

And please be patient with me while I make the switch.  I'll try very hard to make sure that all of you who follow me here will be able to follow me there as well.  Thanks for you patience and let me know what you think of the new blog.

So...  If you happen to be a friend of mine on facebook, you've seen this photo.

It's me on my belly at Dublin's Chiller.  Yes.  I will do what it takes to get the picture and yes, it was cold and wet.  But it was also TOTALLY worth it!

Can I be honest?  It's a little scary to have a hockey player in full gear skating right at you.  I knew Brennan would stop and I knew I'd be "iced" a bit but nonetheless there was that small fear of "What if he can't stop?"  No worries, though.  Brennan is a champ and I was very safe.

It was tons of fun to do some photos that were a little out of the ordinary.  Thanks to Brennan and his mom, Karen!  Stay tuned because once things get pretty outside, Brennan and I will be hanging out again.  Can't wait!

Your bucket

Have you ever had a friend call you for advice?

Of course you have.  And just like I do, you search for just the right words to make your friend feel better.  You talk them through their problem or distract them from it....  whatever seems right at the time.  But, as I talked with a friend recently, it occurred to me...

It all boils down to the bucket.

"The bucket?" you ask....  That's right.  The bucket.  The proverbial one.

In life, there are people, places and things in your life.  They either fill your bucket or drain it.  You know what I'm talking about.

People hurt you and put a hole in your bucket or they knock you off balance and drain some of the water out of your bucket.

Stick with people that keep you stable.  Stick with people who help you hold your bucket upright.  Stick with people who don't attack you and put holes in your bucket....

And...  when your bucket feels a little empty, I have a gift for you.
A little refill water and some band-aids for the holes...

Here's to a full bucket!

So. This is my first "mobile" post. Mobile.... HA! I am anything but mobile. My behind is parked on a couch meer feet from where I usually write my blog posts. But. I don't feel well (Yay...  head cold) and sitting up isn't high on my priority list today. So, I'm reclining on the couch covered in a blanket and snuggling with my laptop and this is what my day consists of...

Magazines, tissues, Vitamin C, Ibuprofen and a cup of coffee.

Annoying to be sick?  Oh yes.  But...  I'm not very good at holding still and I'm being forced to sit still.  So...  I'll try to go with the flow.  I'll try to hold still.  I'll try to rest and on Monday...  Back to having a buzz in my bum and never holding still.  Have a nice weekend!

Valentine's Day

Today is a day for...

As lucky as I am to have the husband and family I adore, there were days when it wasn't roses and chocolate.  I have had Valentine's Days to forget.  I think that's why today isn't some all-consuming holiday for me.  I don't expect roses.  Chocolate is nice but let's be real here.  Chocolate is nice any day of the year.  Please don't tell me I can only have it once a year.

I don't get all wrapped up in the romantic part of Valentine's Day.  Don't get me wrong, I like romance as much as the next girl...  heck, my job involves an awful lot of romance but over the years I've learned that romance isn't all there is and if you can't be thoughtful and loving on the other 364 days, doing it today is an empty gesture.

Valentine's day is a day with a lot of pressure to be in a relationship, to be crazy in love and to be insanely romantic.  We're supposed to be swept off our feet on this day.  Ok.  Women are supposed to be swept off our feet.  That's a lot of pressure.  If you're in a relationship, feel free to revel in the Valentine's vibe but if you're not....

Grab a cup of coffee and settle in.  I want to talk to you.

I'm going to let you in on a secret.  I'm going to tell you what the true meaning of this day is supposed to be.  Once you know this and embrace it, you'll never feel lonely on this holiday again.  Are you ready?

Valentine's Day isn't really about being in love.

"What?!" you say...  Oh yeah...  I heard you say it.  You don't believe me, do you?  You look around and you see all the hearts and flowers.  You see the commercials where lucky ladies get diamonds and roses and big boxes of chocolates.  You see those couples and you think... "Ha!  Donna has lost her mind.  Valentine's Day is all about being in love."

Nope.  It's not.  Hear me out.  What it's really about is something so much simpler.  See that photo above?  What's written on the heart?  "Love"  There are no other words on that heart.  The problem is we subconsciously put the word "IN" with the love.  So the day becomes all about being "in love".

If there's a word that should go before love it's *give*.

And giving love is not limited to just one special person.  Of course, it's nice to have one special person to share your life and hopefully that person will be with you soon but in order to have a complete life, you need more than that one person, you need:  family, friends, co-workers, a hobby, a home, pets.  All of these things and more add up to a lovable life.

I'm very blessed to have a lovable life and I bet if you stop and think about it, you have a lovable life as well.   So, instead of thinking about the kind of love you're not getting today, stop and think about the love you're giving.  Then, send a text, an email or pick up the phone.  Reach out and tell people (and your pets) you love them.

Then...  smile because you just learned the real meaning of Valentine's Day AND you saved a ton of money on roses and chocolates.

So...  It really wasn't all that long ago that we were using film.  When I used film, all I had to know was how to use my camera and of course, have a little business knowledge.

Well...  Times have seriously changed.  Now, I have to have a lot more skills.  Now I am...

A Photographer
A Retouching artist
A Graphic artist
A Blogger
A facebook chatterer
A slideshow putter togetherer
A Business woman
A Writer
A Photo Stylist
A Set builder
A miscellaneous technology knower
and now....

A twitter tweeter

That's right...  I put it off for a very long time but am now on twitter.  So...  Follow me...  I have NO idea where we're going but I'm sure it'll be a fun journey.

My mom is planning on giving her pup a bath this weekend.  This is her the last time she got her bath.  It just makes me smile....

This last one makes me laugh out loud.  Pitiful thing.  I better get her some treats because this looks like the last thing she wants to do.
