I started this experiment knowing it would be good for me.  What I didn't know was the level of challenge it would provide.  My habit of eating breakfast and lunch at my desk are hard to break.  But, I will say it was fun to have lunch with my kids yesterday.  My morning went relatively smooth until something went terribly wrong.   If you're my facebook friend, you probably saw "In case you weren't sure... It is Monday... So... Very... Monday...."  You see, my computer has been a bit of a diva lately.  She runs a fan nearly constantly to stay cool.  SO annoying but a livable issue.  Well, yesterday, the diva decided that typing was overrated and for several hours made it impossible for me to log on.   I'm not worried about losing anyone's photos.  I have a backup system in place but...  it sure would've been nice to be able to actually use the computer to access those photos.  So...  My morning was spent computer shopping.  I'm afraid, there may have been some multi-tasking involved. (Head hung low.  Guilty face on.)

Tab one:  Store One.  Tab Two:  Store Two  Tab Three:  Computer reviews Tab Four:  Email conversation with the husband regarding tabs one, two and three.   NOT how I wanted to spend my morning.  I suppose I could make an argument for the fact that the four tabs were really about one task.  Are you buying it?  Ultimately, Andy and I actually went to the stores to get what we wanted which further proved that my earlier multi-tasking was useless and a waste of time.  I guess we'll chalk that up to a lesson.

Oddly, in the afternoon, the diva decided she was willing to work so I went back to my single tasking and was able to get a lot done.  Once the evening came, we shopped:  a singular task.  Then, I was up until one in the morning trying to get the new baby computer set to how I like it.

So, really, I probably owe this experiment a whole day to make up for Monday's lost day.
But, this morning, I had a little revelation of sorts.

W.I.N.What's Important Now?

W.I.N.

Andy used to have it framed.  I wonder what happened to it?  (Darn distraction.)  Anyway....   As I sat here freaking out about ALL the regular work I have to do and then ADDED the daunting task of moving files and programs and organizing the new computer, I was so tempted to multi-task the bejeezus out of things.  But...  What's important now?   Well, I probably don't need to worry about ALL the files.  I focused on getting the computers ready for what I HAVE to accomplish today.  One task at a time...  Thinking of it that way was a whole lot less stressful.

So...  Solution #2 is
Hope that helps you on the quest to end mult-tasking!
