All this week, I keep thinking about one of my kids' favorite book series. If you give a..... written by Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond.
If you give a mouse a cookie, he'll want milk. Milk needs a straw... And each thing reminds the mouse of something else. Random, fun things and things you need to do... etc... until it all comes back to the mouse wanting a cookie again. Isn't that how life is? At least mine....
I'll get thirsty. Get a cup of coffee. See the dishes. Use a kitchen towel. See it's dirty. Head to laundry. And it goes... until I'm back sitting at my desk doing what I was supposed to be doing in the first place.
I'd love to tell you that the last two days have been a blissful couple of single tasking days but... really. They've just been a blur. Do you ever have that? You try to recall what you did and can't really be specific. Did I eat breakfast? Um... I think so. What did I accomplish? I'm not sure.
Again, my wise husband has a saying for it.
Don't confuse activity with accomplishment
This morning, I've been busy. Doing this. Doing that. But I haven't really accomplished anything. Which is why this is going to be a short post. I have to get to work. :)
So, I'll leave you with the above. Look for accomplishments. I think that will lead to a more singular tasking mindset.
And... have I said how hard this is?
