Losing it!

Losing it!

Did you watch Modern Family this week?  My favorite line?  "A well-fed Cam is hardly a model of emotional stability.  Now, deprive him of food and stage by stage it's a slow descent into madness."  (Check out the episode here.)

Hmmmm....  I don't think I want anyone to tell me how much I resemble this remark.  I've been on this little quest since the middle of July.  I'm confident that in that time, I started with all the enthusiasm and dare I say obsession of a new diet.  I cried at small failures like when I had pizza for dinner and gained 3 lbs. overnight.  I got cranky when the scale wouldn't budge or moved so slowly that only time lapse photography would show any progress.  I followed that up with a defiant "I WILL lose weight" and stomped my way through a couple of workouts.  I got angry that other people were losing so much faster than me.  It was frustrating but I stuck with it.

Where am I now?  Well...  I think I'm finally past all the big ups and downs or...  I hope I am anyway.  I feel like I've gone through a kind of detox.  We have almost completely stopped eating out and when we do, we make really healthy choices.  The results?  I've lost.....

EIGHTEEN POUNDS!!!
Two chunky newborns
A 7 month old baby
Six human brains
My mom's miniature schnauzer

And yes...  I'm very happy.  Still have more to go but I'm on my way.  If you want to know what I'm doing, leave a comment and I'll create a post with all kinds of information for you from food to exercise to gadgets.

Awesome Job Donna! It's sooo hard to get motivated, let alone STAY motivated. Nobody actually truely wants to give up what we're comfortable doing, but when we make that committment and follow through, it feels like a huge accomplishment! Great job, soooo proud of you! If ever you're looking for some FUN workout, ZUMBA is great cardio. I go every Mon & Wed @ 6:45 here in Grove City; it'd be so fun if you came one night! :-)

Sorry to hear about your foot, Buckeye Gal. Hope it feels better soon. Glad you got some motivation.

Bri, Zumba sounds like fun. Maybe after the kids are out of soccer I can do that. Miss your face!! Did you get the Thanksgiving invite?
