Jenny and Diego

There's a quote that says:  “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass…it’s about learning to dance in the rain.”  Honestly, it's a quote that is completely relevant to life, marriage and....  today's blog post.

I shared Jenny and Diego's engagement session not too long ago.  I don't know if I mentioned the rain or not but...  it did rain.  When Jenny and I had our final meeting, she actually said she hoped it would rain on her wedding day.  Now, there is a saying that rain on a wedding day is good luck but most girls don't wish for that.  But...  Jenny's not most girls.

For example....  How many girls would go buy a pair of completely impractical but absolutely stunning heels just to make their photographer happy?  Um....  Jenny would.  :)
Jenny and her mom are definitely close.
I love that Jenny was so relaxed that she could connect with her inner supermodel for some photos.
Um...  Go ahead and say it... I heart Jenny's flowers.
Shades of purple....  or should I say maids of purple?

These shoes...  Jenny bedazzled herself with Swarovski crystals.  NICE!!!
This is one of my fave bridal photos!!!!
And Diego's sense of humor is priceless!!!

I love this photo of Diego.  He's laughing and having fun with his groomsmen which is exactly the way it should be.  These two were SO relaxed!

After Jenny put the ring on Diego's finger, she put her hand on top of his and gently rubbed his hand.  It was the sweetest, most loving gesture.
Now...  This is THE moment.  As I said, Jenny isn't like most brides.  She actually hoped for rain.  A handsome friend was reading his passage about storms, as if on cue from God Himself, it started raining....  Jenny looked to see it start falling.  Pure Bliss for her.  As the goose bumps started forming, I remembered our final meeting and Jenny's words.

For every big event in her life, a little rain has fallen.  She truly sees it as a blessing, a bit of good luck.  It rained when he proposed.  It rained during engagement photos and countless other times in her life, the rain has fallen.  Today...  the biggest day of her life thus far, the rain fell again.  And it couldn't have been more beautiful!
A fancy kiss while the rain fell....
 A couple of portraits inside.....

then....  I went out in the rain...  and a little bit of lightning to get this photo which I ADORE!!!
Between raindrops, we managed a few outdoor photos....

LOVE the wind's assistance on these....

Once the reception started, we were no longer thinking about the weather, it was time to celebrate.  Dad's speech was fantastic.  Don't believe me?  Check out the faces of the people behind him.  Love that!

When a professional dancer has his first dance, he doesn't mess around!  He brings the A game!

but still manages to have a precious moment with his wife.
Now...  Let me tell you a little more about Jenny....  She clearly is close to her family and family tradition is important to her.  The veil she wore was her mother's and her grandmother's.  The lace is her hair come from her mother & grandmother's wedding dress.  And the buttons on the cake are replicated from that very same wedding dress.  How beautiful to have such pieces of family history as a part of your day.

And while family tradition is wonderful....  there's the Diego factor.  The silly, wonderful Diego factor.

Doesn't Diego look like so much fun to be around?  Below, is Neil, the best man, DJ and emcee for the evening.  He wore many hats.  He did all his jobs well and still managed to dance perfectly with the bride and pose for me at the same time.  Nice multi-tasking!
If after seeing these photos, you'd like some lessons, Diego & Neil work for Dance Plus Ballroom in Grandview.  My assistant, Lizze got an impromptu lesson during the reception and I think she'll be signing up for more lessons.  Think I could convince Andy to go with me?
Now...  doesn't that just sum it all up?  Gotta love this couple!!!  Thank you Jenny & Diego for letting me witness your special day!!!  You two are wonderful!!!

DK, as I was reading and looking at your blog again today - for the100th time since you posted it - I remember another day that it was raining in Jenny's life. I don't really know if she knows, but it was raining the day she was born also. How cool is that - your blog is just perfect - can't wait to see all the pictures - Jenny said they are amazing!!! THANKS, Helen
