Amy and Matt

First of all, I was very excited to have the lovely Lizzie join me as my assistant.  I first met Lizzie here.....
at her sister's wedding.  She was the maid of honor and the truth is, I LOVE this family.  I'm so glad their still in my life--facebook and real life.  :)  Here's Lizzie now.  Love her free spirit and she has the sweetest heart.
I'm very fortunate to have a few people who are willing to assist me at weddings.  I love having Andy there but it's hard on our kids when we're both gone every weekend so it's nice to be able to mix it up.

Anyway...  On to the real reason for the post:  Amy and Matt's wedding....  So....  How about these shoes?!
Amy and Matt opted to do all their photos before their wedding so we set up a little first look.  It was hot outside---melt your face---sweat dripping down hot so we decided to stay in the air conditioned synagogue.  Thankfully, there is a beautiful lobby area with lots of natural light.  Amy looks so happy!
Now...  for Jewish ceremonies, there is a Chuppah.  It's literally a canopy overhead.  I ADORED Amy & Matt's chuppah.  It was very personal.  Amy's dad has passed away.  So Amy's mom, Ethel, took dad's t-shirts and created a chuppah for her daughters to be married under.  It's a way for their dad to watch over them as they get married even though he isn't physically there.

I never met Amy's dad but honestly...  look at these shirts.  Don't you get a real feel for what kind of man he was?  He liked sports.  He loved his country...  and ice cream.  He traveled.  He clearly loved NY!  And you know what else he loved?
His wife, Ethel.....  I know I am a giant sap but this really got to me.  As a girl who lost her dad too, I felt a real connection here.  What girl doesn't go steal one of her dad's t-shirts to wear?  T-shirts = comfort & love. I can't think of a more loving tribute to her dad.

And after such a wonderful sweet taste of family, I entered the small chapel to see this.  The bride Skype-ing with her grandmother who couldn't make it.  The best part?  Grandma got all dressed up as if she was there.  And...  Grandma knows how to Skype?!!!  Go granny!
So...  another part of the Jewish tradition is the signing of the Ketubah.  It's basically a contract between the bride and groom.  Usually, they are beautiful pieces of art work.  This one didn't disappoint.
Another tradition?  Veiling the bride.  After all, you don't want anyone slipping you the wrong bride.  Right?
Amy's nephew can be added to my list of adorable, precocious and ornery kids I love.  He liked the sneeze and had everyone chuckling when he wore his sister's headband.  :)
Finally, it was time to get married.

We hopped over to the statehouse for a few photos.  There were fun ones....
 Loving ones....
 Sexy ones...
Timeless ones...  (okay.... too corny but gimme a break, writing is not my main profession.)
 More sexy ones....
And ones to make the parents happy....
After some Statehouse lovin', the bride & groom walked over to the courtyard at the Hyatt on Cap Square.  Lizzie walked with them while I went and parked the car.  Now, Miss Amy knows the way to my heart.  It's shoes.  I love shoes.  She bought a special pair of pink shoes that I love.  She borrowed a bridesmaid's bouquet just so she could have "the shoe photo"....  Only...  I didn't take this one.  Lizzie did.  Nice job Lizzie!!
From the bottom of the Hyatt to the top.  Gotta love it!
My friends at All in Bloom did a stellar job on the centerpieces, bouquets, and all things floral.
 Somebody's been taking lessons....  :)
Okay...  This is the part of the night where I am absolutely frantic and nervous and excited and scared and can't wait for it to happen and be over all at the same time event of the night.  The Hora---in other words---the please don't drop me dance.
 CAKE!!!
 Yummy cake...

Obviously, a good time was had by all...  Including Lizzie and myself.

I hope Amy & Matt has a chance to sleep and rest 'cause that was one busy wedding day.  Best wishes to you both and honestly, I will save the note you wrote me for years to come.  It was very, very sweet and very much appreciated!
