A week ago, on a bitterly cold Friday night, Ben and Ellen were headed for a night out. They were headed to the Old Bag of Nails at Creekside in Gahanna.
"Let's walk around", he says. She agrees...
They walk along the path, past the waterfall and head toward the bridge only... there's a crowd of people on the bridge. "Let's turn around". He turns, stops and turns her toward him. For a split second, she seemed confused... until he dropped to one knee.
Then her hands covered her face as I'm sure she said "Oh my God!" Then... she said "yes". They hugged and that crowd of people headed toward them....
Ben planned it well. Their family and friends were the crowd of people on the bridge. Ellen had no idea. They all got to witness his proposal and her acceptance. I feel so very blessed to have been able to witness it!!
Now, I don't know about all of you but I'm not sure I love anyone enough to go for a walk when it's 5 degrees outside. Christmas lights are pretty and all but.... cold is cold. Come to think of it, though.... I did go to the zoo lights thinking Andy would propose there. The things we do for love. :)
It was too cold to torture them with a lot of portraits so a quick photo or two of them (looking VERY happy)
and I sent them on their way to celebrate with family and friends.
That was AWESOME!
