Wedding...  I'm having one...

Mine and Andy's wedding was lovely.  We were married in my church and had a great party downtown but....  I made a couple of big mistakes that I have wanted to fix for years.  There were two people that I didn't include in my wedding party and I really should have.  Generally, that's one of those mistakes you can never go back and fix.  You're stuck with your choice and knowing that you hurt people's feelings and... you're stuck with the big regret.  And in my case, you're also stuck with photos of a wedding dress you hated (but that's another story).

For years, I've collected photos and ideas for a backyard wedding/vow renewal so I could fix my error.  I could have those two friends in my wedding and finally feel like I had fixed a great big wrong in my life.  I could have a do over.  And let's face it...  a more than 10 year marriage is worth celebration.  I had it all planned.  I was just waiting for a good time to do it.

When you have 3 kids---one in college and two growing like weeds--- and a house that still has way too much 1972 flavor, that right time just never seems to come.  You've heard the phrase "God works in mysterious ways."  Well...  That happened to us.  We are renewing our vows...  probably on March 26th.  They funny thing is that even though I'm getting my vow renewal....  it's nothing like what I always planned.

This vow renewal isn't about fixing old wrongs or getting a dress that makes me feel pretty.  This one all about our family and our church--the two things I know I can count on.  As much as I'd love to have a big semi-traditional affair where I share with all of you my wedding colors, flowers, invites, tuxes, cake and more....  That's just not in the cards right now.  Our guests will be our immediate family and a couple of close friends who lovingly insist on being there.  (Love 'em for it!)

There will be a sweet service where our marriage will be blessed and then maybe lunch at my house.  This is definitely not going to be a "wedding" like what I show here.  The reason this renewal is happening is because after years of a 2-religion marriage, we're finally bringing our family together in one church.  I'm very happy and excited about that.  And...  "our" church wants us to have our marriage blessed by them before I actually join this Easter.  That's what's prompting a renewal now.

I'll share with you what our plans are but right now...  there really aren't any.  It's tough for a wedding photographer to go this route.  :)
