Right now a lot of girls are planning their weddings. Many of them are choosing their florists, photographers and disc jockeys or bands based on a list of preferred vendors given to them by their venues.
Please be very careful. A preferred vendor should be on the list because they are good at what they do and they have experience working with the venue or vendor. Unfortunately, several venues have taken to charging vendors for the privelege of being preferred. So... be certain to ask if any monies have exchanged hands for the priveledge of preferred status. If you receive a beautiful brochure from your venue with ads from vendors.... they've paid to be there.
In my opinion, a vendor should be preferred SOLELY only the merits of their work. PLEASE... let's start a conversation about this. I really want to hear what you think. I completely understand what you are saying. I am preferred vendor of Franklin Park but I also pay to be in their brochure. I do refuse to pay to be in brochures of venues that have not or never have referred business our way. I agree with vendors being referred solely on the merits of their work. Unfortunately I think quite a few venues are going to these type of brochures vendors pay to be in.
I think brides need to truly ask the venues who they prefer from past experience, not a brochure.
