Typically, I'm sharing photos and stories of how or when those photos were taken on here. But, it's the "slow" season. People are hunkered down in their homes dreaming of warm weather days and buttery, sun-shiney photos. Which leaves me in my house with my editing work and the day to day life that seems so non-existent in the blogosphere. At the risk of stating the obvious, I'm not just a photographer. I'm a wife, a mom, a daughter, a friend and a dork. I do household chores. I dust. I vacuum. I don't do laundry; the mister has that covered but I do other things and one of those roles is cooking.... It's my responsibility to make dinner every day for the 6 of us. We're one of those families that tries to sit down and eat together. Unfortunately, that means eating like the rich and famous at 8:00 at night sometimes but... at least we have dinner together more often than not.... And while I like cooking, the day to day of it, the existential question of "What's for dinner?" makes me feel a LOT like Billy Murray in the movie Groundhog Day.
It drives me nuts... If only I could adopt Ree Drummond, the Pioneer Woman. I'd never go hungry again and I'd eat REALLY well. But, she's in Oklahoma and I'm in Ohio. I probably need to solve this problem myself. And while, I often peruse Ree's recipes as well as Pinterest, let's be honest, that's a solo operation and after having been cooped up in the house for 5 days because of snow and temperatures in negative numbers, I need something a little more social. It's also fun to see what my friends are cooking. So, I came up with an idea. Why don't you all share with me one of your "go to" weeknight meals? Here's what I ask....
1. Pick a favorite recipe
2. Make it.
3. Take 2 or 3 photos while making it. (No judgment of photos. We just want to see the decliciousness.)
4. Send the recipe, the photos and a selfie to me dk {at} dkphotographic {dot} com
Then, I'll pick a few and share them on this blog and we'll all have more additions to the daily cooking repertoire! Sound good?
