Heidi & Scott

This seemed to be the summer of outdoor weddings. I love 'em. I usually get to do what I want & things seem to be more relaxed. At any rate, Heidi's Uncle Kenny offered his home for the wedding. When Kenny & his wife were married, he built a dock on their pond for their event. Heidi and Scott were married on the same dock. I love the sentiment.

During their ceremony, Heidi kept peeking at her new hubby. I don't know what she was thinking but her face sure says "happy". We were able to take several photos during the magic time of day when the light is really warm and strong. I was soooo excited about the field of wildflowers but I was disappointed that the sky didn't look more exciting. So. I cheated. I still have some work to do on it (the line between the trees & the sky doesn't look natural enought to me) but tell me what you think. Am I on the right track? Do you like the natural photo or the "warmed up" version?

I have to say... the funniest photo of the day belongs to Kirby at the salon. Her hair was being teased and well.... I don't have to say anything. You can see for yourself. : ) Have a great day everybody and thanks for reading!

Kristen and Josh

How brave are they?! We were up and going at 8:30 in the morning. Many of you know I am not a morning person although Andy and the kids are doing their best to convert me. At any rate, we started at one o fmy fave little spots downtown. I love the doorway of this building. It was just made for photos. And look at Kristen and Josh----owning it!

Our little spot had a litter issue. Apparently Saturday night was quite busy. There were postcards all over the ground for some adult entertainment. Hmmm. But I couldn't resist when I saw the back of a postcard that says "taste like candy". I had to have them kissing with that postcard. OKAY! I know I get a little geeky now and then. Can't help it. It's who I am. And for those who know me well..... I admit it. I did let out the little "tee hee" that I do when I think I'm being funny.

While we were taking photos, little Bear was not having fun watching so we brought him in on the action at Goodale Park. He was a little distracted by all the dogs there but I still think he looks darn cute. We finished our session with a fun piggy back ride! LOVE the blur factor on this one! So... We'll see Kristen and Josh again after their 10.20 wedding. Happy Friday everyone!

RACHEL

This story goes so far back I'm embarassed about how old it makes me feel/look. When I first starting working at a studio, I was a wedding assistant. I assisted at a wedding that, truthfully, started a long friendship. The bride was Meg Scaggs. The flower girl was Rachel, Meg's new daughter of the heart. She was absolutely adorable. Her big brown eyes would just make you melt and then the big smile would come along and you'd be instantly in love with her.

Well. Meg is the director at Meadow Park Children's Center where I've been taking pictures of our little friends for a really long time. I got to watch Rachel grow up. When she was 8 or 9, we took a photo of her wearing my coat. It was brown with a fuzzy collar. She held the collar up near her cheeks and just looked cute as a button (to quote her mom). Fast forward to this past weekend and Miss Rachel is a high school senior. A gorgeous high school senior with not one ounce of a clue as to how pretty she is.

Rachel, Meg and I traveled all around Columbus. It was so much fun. Lots of giggling... especially when we convinced Rachel to be a bit of a rebel and wade in the fountain. It didn't take her mom long to jump in with her. One photo we took reminded her mom and I of the brown coat photo so many years ago but mostly, Rachel has grown into her own personality and a striking young woman. She clearly has her mom's big heart. She is looking into going into early childhood education just like her mom. I wish her the best of luck in everything she does. She deserves every piece of goodness that comes to her.

PS. If you need childcare, I think Meadow Park is fantastic! Aidan and Devin go there. Meg, Sandy and the teachers we have had have been so wonderful, loving, caring and kind to our kids. We are so grateful that Meadow Park has become a part of our family. I highly recommend taking your kids there!

Slacker=dk
It's 10:30 at night. I should be sleeping. I'm not. If I'm not sleeping, I should be working. I am. I apologize for not posting more often lately. I have tons of photos to share with you, I promise but it seems I've been away from my desk a lot, lately.
School picture season started this week for me. I've been at Cypress Christian for the better part of the week. The weekend is packed! Monday, I'm at BEARS preschool for the morning & afternoon. I'll take an hour or two off to pick up my kids then head back to BEARS for family photos in the evening. Tuesday, I should be around during the day but will be back at BEARS in the evening for more family photos and Wednesday, it's the BEARS again. Thursday, I'm in Cincinnati for photos. Friday, I'll just be exhausted but it looks like I'll have a couple of brides to meet and try to convice that I am a fabulous choice for their weddings. ; )

So... I guess what I'm trying to tell you is that it is most definitely FALL!!!!! My schedule gets crazy and I get crazy (not a big stretch-I know). Luckily, this week and next are the hardest weeks so after that, it will be easier. In the meantime, here's Mr. Aidan playing soccer. Hmmmm. I think he might be a little too aware of the camera.

Opinions, Please!

As you all know, I am a photoshop fan. But.... with this particular photo, I just don't know which way to go with it. Which photo do you all prefer?

Ally and Andy ~ 08.24.2007

Ok. I know that I have skipped over a few weddings and I'll get back to them but I had these photos ready so I'm going to go ahead and be a little random and post them.

See if you can follow this..... Dan is from New York. He married Abby from Columbus. They moved to Colorado. Dan & Abby are friends with Andy (also from NY) and Ally (Columbus) in Colorado. They showed Ally & Andy their wedding album. Ally loved the pictures so she called me to do their wedding. After they had booked me, I heard from Tiffany. Tiffany was going to be a bridesmaid. I had photographed Tiffany and Adam's wedding several years back when Ally was a bridesmaid in that wedding. Speaking of random.... What are the odds of all of that. At any rate, I will always love this photograph because three awesome couples are together at one event!

Since Ally lives in Colorado, I met with her mom. When I met with Brenda, I think we talked about everything! From flowers to bridesmaid's dresses, we talked about it all. One thing I remembered was Ally loves Gerbera daisies. So... Having the Daisy Basket as your florist would be most appropriate! They did a fantastic job. The flowers really popped with amazing color!

I heard Ally several times during the day say "I LOVE my wedding!" That's what I hope for every bride. They worked the details but when it came to "GO" time, they sat back and let their vendors do their thing while they enjoyed the day. It was awesome!

Ally and Andy's day had a carefree feeling to it. It wasn't formal. No tuxedoes. The girls wore dresses from The Gap. The groomsmen wore dress pants with shirts & ties. The whole day was all about being relaxed and having fun. Ally skipped the veil for a DARLING daisy in her hair. I really hope their images captured the fun and relaxed feelings of the day! I teased Ally into getting very playful for her photos. I LOVE them! She just looks like she's having a blast!

A couple of great stories came out during the course of their wedding day. The next image, I hope, tells of one of those stories. You see, Ally did not get to see her wedding ring until Andy slipped it on her finger. I thought it was very romantic & sweet. The look on her face as she sees her ring for the first time just makes me thrilled to have been there in that moment.

Before we knew it, the night was over. Ally and Andy and a ton of their Colorado friends closed up the night outside. Ally and Andy got in their car and off they went but..... not before I snagged this photo that was so unique, it's already on my website!

Ally & Andy had a second wedding reception in Colorado last night (09.08.07). Although I was thrilled to be with Lisa and Joe yesterday, I did think of them and hope they had a great time and were able to enjoy the mini-DVD I sent as a surprise.

Best wishes to Ally & Andy!

On a quick sidenote: The three couples featured at the beginning of this post are true examples of humanity. All six of them are active Christians who give of themselves regularly. Ally, Andy, Dan and Abby are affiliated with an organization in Colorado for teens who have been abused and/or neglected which shows that they are giving and caring people. If you have spare change and would like to donate to a worthy organization, please think of the Dale House. See their website at http://www.thedalehouse.org/

What can brown do for you?

Well. This particular guy in brown brings the goodies to dk photographic! Thought you all might like to meet the guy responsible for delivering your albums, images and assorted other good stuff.

Greg is a heckuva nice guy! He likes to sneak peeks at what he brings. He's so funny. He'll stay & chat with me for a bit so he can sneak a peek at pictures. On more than one day he has asked if I have anything good for him to look at. Too cute! He also looks pretty good in a tux. He was a groomsman in Sophia & Craig's wedding a couple of years ago (before he was my UPS guy). Anyway. If you see him driving around in the big brown tank, give him a smile and a wave. Your pictures just might be on his truck!

Sara and Matt ~ 08.04.2007

OK. I'm a month late. I know. I know. It's terrible that I'm such a slacker on sharing photos with you. So... Be prepared in the next few days to be hit with wedding photos from 5 or 6 weddings.
Sara and Matt got married at St. Paul in Westerville. Now, being from Westerville, I'm partial to St. Paul. I was actually a MoH there in 1989. I wore a HIDEOUS navy blue dress with large poofy sleeves and pink flowers that were just as large. Honestly, I looked like a walking curtain. Those of you who lived through the 80's know my pain all too well. Anyway. I've always thought St. Paul looked a little retro outside so I was jazzed to see the photo Andy took of the exterior. Pretty blue sky, eh? I can only claim photoshop skills on this one.

As many of you know, I get a little geeked when I have a photo I love. I think Sara looks absolutely gorgeous in this window light photo. Thank you God for beautiful brides. Better yet. Thank you for letting them choose me. ; )

We went to Goodale Park between ceremony & reception. Goodale is always a favorite. We did some fun bridal party photos and of course, our happy couple. I made poor Matt climb a tree. Now, I really dig the image. I think it has a Vogue, Rolling Stone kind of feel. Let me know if you think it works. With 30 weddings this year, I'm pushing the envelope to keep it fresh. Did it work? Speaking of pushing it..... I made them run. God luv 'em! They did!

After Goodale, we were off to the Concourse Hotel. Lots of party later, we ended with a photo by the pool. Try as I might, I couldn't get them to jump in the pool for a photo but I settled for a nice kiss poolside. Best wishes to Sara and Matt!
